Aluminum Foil

Inspired by YouTube tutorials of people making hyper polished spheres of hammered aluminum foil, the series arose from the desire to find a material that is metal and lustrous yet sculptable like clay. The nature of aluminum foil  allows for visual trickery making objects that are apparently heavy yet in actuality are light, while engaging with questions around the nature of value in relation to material. Finding a novel use for a common household object serves as a repositioning of the everyday, asking the viewer to reconsider what makes an art object worthy of  admiration.
